WEARABLE ART FOR YOUR ONE WILD & PRECIOUS LIFE
The possibilities are endless:
A piece of clothing you have that you'd like updated, repaired, or turned into one-of-a-kind wearable art
A unique gift for someone else
A fun t-shirt that you still like the art or logo on but want it on a bag, jacket, jeans
A special fabric, necktie, dress shirt, dress, skirt, or quilt that you love but want it transformed into something new
A unique purse or bag
Mozart & Roses Jacket started as a thrifted plain black jacket. I wanted it to have a music-influenced vibe since my customer (http://www.jenniferraemusic.com) is a musician and songwriter. I found a tshirt with the music of Mozart and made an applique' for the back.
I handpainted silver roses on the front and sleeve, and I hand-embroidered silver sheet music lines and notes.
Pink Floyd Jacket was for my customer Carol's husband as a special gift. I was honored to create this one-of-a-kind gift for them, and to be part of such a touching tribute.
A special note from Carol:
"Three years ago my husband and his family lost his brother to cancer. Gary was an avid Pink Floyd fan. For Christmas I wanted to do something meaningful for my husband. Thank you, Lori Salmonsen and https://www.wildthingthreads.com/ for bringing this idea to life and creating this beautiful custom Pink Floyd jacket."
The Jimi Hendrix Apron started as a plain black apron with embroidered name. I created appilque's from a Jimi t-shirt, hand drawn/cut/stitched guitar pencil pocket, and guitar pick.
I added new straps that fit the design and cross in the back instead of the around the neck. I added decorative machine stitching to enhance the look.
One of my customer's favorite pair of jeans had several holes and rips from lots of wear. I upcycled them into her new Seeing Stars Jeans, and she loves them!
I created custom applique' patches, embellished with decorative stitching and machine embroidery, and painted on stars and splatters.
My friend Robert brought his denim shorts to me to trick out with concert patches. I also added patches behind the holes and reinforced them with decorative stitching.
To the back, I removed the pocket, sewed on the frog patch, and sewed it back on with a heavy green seam.
The Rolling Stones Ripped Jeans were a good quality brand from a thrift shop. I created applique's from a concert t-shirt and machine stitched them on. I added a patch to the knee for comfort and color.
The Rolling Stones Denim Jacket was a thrifted denim jacket. I created the Stones applique' from the concert t-shirt and stitched on with machine embroidery.
The Brick Saloon Shirt was a custom order from a friend who wanted his t-shirt to be the applique' for this plaid shirt. I added a loopy decorative stitching to the applique' to hold it in place and make it look like a lasso and rope.
